CRYSTAL SKULLS
My interest in crystals began over fifty years ago. I studied geoscience but more specifically gemmology. But also having a foot in the spiritual world allowed me to take an alternative view of the energy of crystals. I have used crystals in healing, journeying and as a subject in psychometry.
I first became fascinated by crystal skulls when reading ‘Crystal Healing’ by Edmund Harold in the late 80s. At the time some of the crystal skulls in museums were claimed to be pre-Columbian in origin. But now, with the aid of modern lab-based technology and observation of locality inclusions, this has been disproved.
However, let’s not kill the magic. You probably own a quartz watch. Quartz possesses an interesting property known as piezoelectricity. When pressure is applied to quartz crystal it emits a small electrical charge. There is a reverse effect when a small electric charge is applied to a quartz crystal it will oscillate at a fixed rate. It is this predictable rate, of 32,768 times per second, that enables the watch hand to move so precisely.
If I place a crystal in my hand I feel a vibration. I am a Sensitive. Sometimes, depending on the crystal, I see images. These images are coming from an altered state of consciousness. I believe that the vibrations change my consciousness much the same as shamanic drumming does.
So why were skulls chosen to be carved in crystal? According to Kenneth Meadows the crystal skulls stored electro-magnetic ‘thought waves’ which were impressed by its programmers and read by Sensitives. The skull is symbolic of the physical body, seat of consciousness, with the invisible mind working within. And that the eight cranium plates are significant to the Harmonic Law of Octaves.
The five main crystal skulls found in collections are:
· The British Museum (Museum number Am1898,-.1 display G24).
· The Mitchell-Hedges, in the collection of Homann.
· The Paris Skull.
· The Smithsonian Skull.
· The Burney Skull.
All proven to be relatively modern. Many others made in Idar Oberstein.
Hopefully one day a budding Indiana Jones will discover a true pre-Columbian crystal skull.
