My path to crystal healing

 

I have been often asked ‘what led you to crystal healing’.  The path is long, winding and never finished. I have always been fascinated by the gifts of Mother Earth. When a toddler my mother knew that she would have to empty my pockets of pebbles before she could wash my clothes. 

The fascination developed into a career when I entered the jewellery trade as a teenager. After a long period of study, I gained my Fellowship of the Gemmological Association, together with several other geoscience and jewellery qualifications. At one time, such was my interest in gemmology education, I sat on the Board of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.

However, the science of Gemmology was not my only interest in the world of crystals. My late father was a spiritualist and helped open doors to the non-ordinary.

I have always felt that crystals have energy. I, as a trained gemmologist, was fully aware of the science of phenomenon such as piezoelectricity in certain crystals. I was also conscious that ancient cultures used crystals in their healing practices.

 

Then, in the late 1980s, I came across Edmund Harold’s book ‘Crystal Healing’. Although there is mention of the use of other gemstone species towards the end of the book, the emphasis is on the use of quartz crystals in healing practices. Ancient and modern. I had found my answer. Combining my scientific knowledge with my spirituality.

A couple of years later I had joined three psychic development circles in different parts of the country. Many of the members of these circles were using quartz crystals in their healing practices.

In 1992 I was working in a jewellery shop when a stranger came in and asked who was interested in crystals. He had seen some that I placed in a window display. We began chatting. He was a rockhound like me but was also on a long spiritual path. He had been a spiritual healer, psychic and reader. His path had changed in recent years after a period of guidance by Native Americans. He announced himself as a Shaman.  Since which shamanic practices have held an interest for me. 

We became good friends, and I trained with him for a year or so. During which time crystal healing featured. He asked me to choose a crystal as gift from him, as my principal healing crystal. He said that you will know which it is. He laid out a line of half a dozen crystals. I passed my hand over them feeling the energy. I was drawn to one particularly. I picked it up and it appeared to be weightless. That crystal I still use today.

I decided recently to offer crystal healing at Psychic Fayres, where I have been offering Tarot reading and other forms of divination. My practice emphasis will be on spiritual wellbeing, balance and harmony.
